League Game

A strong, confident Civil Service team took to the field against Withington, standing joint top of the league and with two wins in a row and opponents they had defeated in the cup a few weeks earlier. Service immediately started on the front foot and caused endless problems for the Withington defence. In a similar fashion to the game against Shobdon, Service took the lead through an excellent header from Judd. With Day and Atkin linking up nicely down the left and causing constant problems for Withington more and more chances were created but the score remained 1-0 at half-time. 15 minutes into the second half Service earned a penalty which Jones managed to convert calmly. With the win looking secure, Service made a few changes however they continued to dominate and earned another penalty which was hit wide by Reece Calder. Paul Johnson however secured the win with an excellent finish before Jamie Jones capped an excellent performance with a goal from his own half after the Withington keeper had gone wandering.
