League Game

A much improved Civil Service FC performance saw the Servicemen record their first win in the league this season. CSFC started brightly and looked dangerous in attack yet secure defensively. Despite creating several excellent chances some wasteful finishing from Reece Calder and Richard Judd kept the scores level. An unlikely source showed his son how it was done though, as Terry Calder managed to lob Kington’s 6’8 keeper from the edge of the box as he expertly found the top corner. Although Kington responded and began to see more of the ball, CSFC defended resolutely and kept creating their own chances as the side’s pace going forward proved a constant menace for the Kington defence.

With the score remaining 1-0 till half time, Kington started the second-half much the better team and bossed the play for much of the second half. Both team’s had strong penalty appeals refused that had just cause to be given but despite creating the better chances on the counter attack the score remained 1-0 at the final whistle.

Strong performances across the back four ensured a deserved clean sheet for Dan Gay and anyone could have been man of the match as Will Jelfs found his form from last season and Charlie Simms produced his best display in a CSFC shirt. However old man Calder was named Man of the Match as a strong display defensively aided by his goal secured the majority of the team’s vote.
