Hereford City 0 5 Civil Service FC
19th July at 1.00pm
Burghill
Friendly

Two sides that were closely matched last year and finished next to each other in the league met at Burghill for both team’s first friendly of the upcoming season.

Service started the brighter and managed to create several chances before taking the lead wit ha fortuitous own goal after pressure down the right led to a dangerous cross that was diverted into his own net by one of the City defenders. The goal helped the Servicemen settle down and several more chances were created before Jamie Jones added a second.

City pushed forward more and tried to pin Civil Service back but created little and when they did found Dan Gay in good early season form. He did very well to keep out a sting 30 yard volley – from Terry Calder, the Service left back!

In the end Service romped to a 5-0 win that could have been more but was a very satisfactory start to the pre-season campaign with Jamie Jones finishing with a hat-trick and Simon Chapman adding to the opening own goal.
