Service Resumes With Strong September

Following on from a strong pre-season showing and with the addition of some excellent new players, Civil Service were disappointed to come away from the first game with a defeat. Having led 2-0 after 20 minutes, a lack of concentration was punished severely by the Kington Town Reserves Team. However, the reverse fixture at the end of the month saw CSFC come out 3-0 winners in a hard fought match. A splendid third goal from Jack Gough gave the side breathing space and a second clean sheet in 2 games was delivered.

In between, the side produced an impressive 10-0 win over Marden to get their first league points on the board and an even more impressive 4-2 win over First Division Bartestree Reserves in the HFA Junior Cup.

Overall a very good September that gives the team something to build on this season, with more players looking to be signed this is the strongest squad in recent seasons. Hopefully, October delivers similar results and performances.

The league has expanded to 14 teams, although there is still the possibility that there will be teams drop out. With teams coming from Malvern, Kington, Bromyard and Ross there will a few miles to cover.

As soon as the first fixtures are released, we will be back with an update.

Dylan’s Dribblers Emerge Victorious As We Remember Players Past

Dylan’s Dribblers emerged victorious after winning the Dave Gilbert & Derrick Blake Memorial Tournament. They overcome Terry’s Terminators after a hard-fought final. Although behind for the majority of the match, a late equaliser ensured penalties, where the Dribbler’s held their nerve to take this year’s trophy.

This year’s tournament featured 8 teams and was the best turnout in terms of players for a number of seasons. Dave and Derrick would have been proud of how competitive and good-natured the tournament was.

Dylan’s team won through despite only finishing 3rd in what was a tough group, before comfortably beating Cotton’s Canaries and Lumpy’s Lads en route to the final.
